Notes on Installing PhpMyadmin, Mysql, Maraidb , and other misc notes

Nginx seems to be working good, except,...
I tried installing "fluxbb",  one problem , when I tried to look at the install docs on their website, I just
get a blank page,.. so no install instructions.
Unfortunately this forum, won't let me post the error message,..or anything to explain:

Why have I been blocked?

This website is using a security service to protect itself from online attacks. The action you just performed triggered the security solution. There are several actions that could trigger this block including submitting a certain word or phrase, a SQL command or malformed data.

Maybe try again :

 Error: Unable to connect to MySQL server. MySQL reported: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/run/mysql/mysql.sock' (2 "No such file or directory").

Is the error message.
There is a nginx "global" file, and also the niginx.conf , from the global:

        fastcgi_pass                    unix:/var/run/php5-fpm.sock;
        #fastcgi_pass                   127.0.0.1:9000;

Should I maybe un comment the one line that is commented ?
Looks like I will be able to post this,.. I had some more details, but the board rejects them,..
I know I could just try and see, but before I start just changing things, since Pedigree is familiar with
both nginx and  fluxbb, figured better as first,... no hurry, and this is not on the real server yet, it is on the
PC localhost,... which  is partly why I am thinking I need to uncomment the line.
thanks

Hah, it turned out to be so simple, I was using "localhost" as the "hostname" , then I noticed on the tutorial,

Database host; Enter 127.0.0.1 or ::1. Do not leave it as “localhost” as we want to use the sockets;

When I used 127.0.0.1 it worked fine.

Re: Notes on Installing PhpMyadmin, Mysql, Maraidb , and other misc notes

The server is up and running, I have still not added any php or mysql , etc. I am taking my time on that, there are
some security issues to consider, how ever on my PC and localhost, I have gotten that worked out, and have the php,mysql,maraiadb. etc working,... just not to sure how secure it would be online.

file.php?id=60&t=1

The image is actually on the linux server/phpBB forum, but any way I decided to use it in the link.

Am thinking about using Fluxbb , on the new server.  Based on this:
https://cve.mitre.org/cgi-bin/cvekey.cgi?keyword=fluxbb
compared to:
https://cve.mitre.org/cgi-bin/cvekey.cgi?keyword=phpBB

Re: Notes on Installing PhpMyadmin, Mysql, Maraidb , and other misc notes

I have decided not to use "phpmyadmin", there probably is no need for it.

So any way, I decided to try "sqlite3", installed it, how ever I am having problems
accessing it as well.
This is the error I get:

Connection failed: SQLSTATE[HY000] [14] unable to open database file

Did some searches on the error message, and there are results, but nothing I could
make sense of, in any event still trying to find more info,...

man sqlite3

has a lot of info, but did not see anything that even gives me a clue,
it is mostly good for the commands, etc.
I did start a data base, it is in : /path/to/dir/notshown/forsecurity/name.db
I am guessing some where else, needs to be configured, but so far have no idea where.
Thanks for taking the time to read and reply.

No need for "phpmyadmin" , everything works fine without it.

Re: Notes on Installing PhpMyadmin, Mysql, Maraidb , and other misc notes

However, ran into some problems installing phpmyadmin:
file.php?id=56&t=1
=================
In any event the basic "site" is working fine. I have all ways had problems understanding
setting up the data base,phpmyadmin, etc. It is not really a problem with OpenBsd,
OpenBsd is working great, the problem is just me. I don't remember what I did on the Linux server, but did have similar problems with my initial setup. Anyway, I don't think fixing it
will be the same as it was on the other OS, any way, I am finding enough documentation,
just need to read more of it smile
file.php?id=57&t=1

So any way, decided to not use phpmydmin, and find it is not needed, .... boy that will be nice in the future, and less bloat.

Re: Notes on Installing PhpMyadmin, Mysql, Maraidb , and other misc notes

Problems with the pf.conf and fire wall,
could not access the site.

$ doas pfctl -f /etc/pf.conf -e
/etc/pf.conf:12: port only applies to tcp/udp
/etc/pf.conf:12: skipping rule due to errors
/etc/pf.conf:12: rule expands to no valid combination
pfctl: Syntax error in config file: pf rules not loaded

Once the syntax error was corrected, the site was accessible,
